Getting to Know: Vera Muzzillo

It is no secret that for more than 40 years, Proforma has been leading the industry with ahead-of-its-time technology, financing solutions, world class events, and more.  However, what many people don’t know is who Proforma is, what makes us who we are, and the one thing that has contributed to our growth and sustainability of the company – our hearts.   

Proforma founder, Greg Muzzillo, started Proforma in 1978. Greg started with $200 and an answering machine and spent years laying the foundation for what would come next.   Fast forward to 2000 when Greg’s wife Vera joined the company – completely changing the dynamic and trajectory of Proforma, helping to make it what it has grown into today.  

So what is it that people may not know about us? Proforma currently operates as the largest family-owned distributor company in the industry.  With Vera at the helm, Proforma employs more than 15 family members, in total has close to 200 employees and has built a network close to 600 distributor owners. This is where the fun begins. While we have corporate offices in both Ohio and Tampa, our business development meetings don’t take place in a conference room.  They take place in the Muzzillo’s living room and are followed by family style dinners full of laughter and people sharing stories.  

Some employees have been with the company two, three, and four decades while others are just beginning their journey. However, no matter how long you’ve been on board, one thing is clear from the minute you join the team – When you start here, you are part of the family.  

Yes, we stake our claim as the industry’s technology leader.  We offer valuations, buy businesses, offer white glove onboarding, and can help distributors of all sizes build more wealth than any other program available.  But what is the number one thing that makes us so successful?  It starts with one key component.

When you meet our CEO, Vera Muzzillo, you meet a gentle soul, a sweet spirit, and one of the most caring humans on the planet.  For more than 20 years she has worked tirelessly, mostly behind the scenes, developing the programs and technology that now power our network.  She has worked hand in hand with our owners to develop systems that meet their needs and has cultivated one of the industry’s strongest distributor communities.  And all of this is done with care, concern, and above all – a burning desire to help people realize their dreams really can come true.
