It seems like all anybody involved in marketing wants to talk about these days is social media- how you can use Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc. to actively connect with your audience and build your brand. But it can start to feel like a full-time job, just trying to keep up with what trends are current and relevant, and how best to regulate how these things interact with your brand. And in many ways, it is! So what about letting your audience come to you, and do that work for you? Inbound marketing is trending too, right?
This article from the Guardian is a great example of how to do just that. It focuses on the increasingly popular app Instagram (recently purchased by Facebook), and simple ways you can change your attitude toward smart phone users to leverage great publicity.
Even if your business doesn’t host a lot of events, the general “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” mentality is still relevant. Social media is going to continue to evolve, and so is the way people interact with it. Rather than trying to constantly regulate that process, sometimes the best thing to do is gently nudge people in the direction you want them to go.
