Success Advice From David Nicholson, President of Polyconcept North America

I want to start by thanking all of the leaders that have contributed their advice so far in my newest approach to Million Dollar Mindset. It has been a pleasure featuring your insights on how to be financially successful within our industry.

The most recent respected leader I asked to share his thoughts is President of Polyconcept North America, David Nicholson.

Thank you, David, for sharing your advice about financial success with me.

Question for David: In your years of experience, what do you think the most financially successful people in our industry have in common? What advice would you give someone that wants to become very financially successful?

David’s advice:

Having been in this industry for over 25 years, I have had the opportunity to work closely with a number of very successful individuals across both suppliers and distributors. Those who have achieved success—both professionally and financially—share several common traits and practices.

First, this is an industry where relationships and partnerships really matter. For distributors in particular, the strength of your relationships with your suppliers will ultimately increase the value you are able to deliver to your end-clients—whether that is product knowledge, managing a challenging order or simply ensuring your orders are done right. Focus on building partnerships with a few key suppliers and leveraging what they have to offer.

A second key trait is a never-ending willingness to learn and grow. This industry will continue to change—those who are successful recognize that they must develop new skills and adapt their strategy. Embrace change and be a constant learner.

Finally, success in any profession or industry depends on having a deep and trusted network of resources and contacts. Ensure that you are reinforcing your network with individuals and organizations that will provide the tools, capabilities and support that you’ll need to realize your goals.

David’s success is evident through his many career advancements within Polyconcept North America. Starting out as a manager of overseas operations for Leed’s to becoming the President of Polyconcept North America, David’s advice stems from his many personal and professional achievements. His ability to create strong relationships, adapt and grow within our ever changing industry and develop and maintain a trusted network of resources, speaks to his success and achievements.

Thank you again, David, for your incredible success advice.
