Have you ever taken the time to break down what really motivates you?  This is a hot topic amongst employers and employees alike.  For some, it’s money.  For others, it’s celebrity and recognition.  Some great men and woman have given us some great tokens of wisdom over the years.  Below are a few of those great quotes that I’d like you to read and reflect on for a few moments.

“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven played music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”
Martin Luther King Jr.
American Civil Rights Leader

“The best way to predict your future is to create it.”
Unknown

“Pay no attention to what the critics say;
no statue has ever been erected to a critic.”
Jean Sibelius
Finnish Composer

“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”
Henry Ford
American Automotive Manufacturer

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
American Poet

“Enthusiasm moves the world.”
Arthur Balfour
British Politician

This is a very short list of great quotes by some very prestigious individuals in world history!    So think about it; what inspires you?  What inspires you is so important but as the last quote suggests “ENTHUSAISM moves the world!”  That quote alone can be the key to your success if applied properly.  You have to be inspired every day to go out and make things happen but your enthusiasm about what you do and how you present makes all the difference in the world.  Are you passionate about your work, about life?  Think of JFK and his enthusiasm when he spoke “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself” or Dr. King in his speech, “I have a dream”.  We probably would have never heard these phrases if those who spoke them didn’t do so with great levels of enthusiasm.
