In 2011, the North American apparel market grew by 4%, with total dollar sales reaching $199 billion. (NPD Group, Inc.) Apparel has always been a status symbol for many North Americans and that’s not going away anytime soon. Take advantage of this trend by using apparel as one of your promotions!
It’s important to keep your logo out there, in front of your customers and prospects. Don’t let your image get stale- keep it fresh and original, just like you! Consider the following when you are thinking about your next logo’d apparel purchase.
1. Polo Shirts are a classy give away. Instead of printing your logo on the upper left chest like usual, why not print it on the right chest? Changing your imprint location just slightly will grab the eye of your audience. Something won’t look “right” and they will make every effort to figure out what it is. Simple as that! You don’t have to change your logo, your colors, your brand, your product line. Just think outside of the norm and you’ll catch the attention of many!
2. Planning on printing some hooded sweatshirts for your employees? Don’t print on the chest. Don’t think about printing on the back. (We’re still thinking creatively, right?) Why not print on the front pocket? Better yet- print your message on the hood! Print it upside down for some added WOW when the owner pulls the hood up.
3. T-shirts. They’re a dime a dozen yet it seems we all collect them whenever we get a chance! Be the FAVORITE t-shirt and make it a little different! You could print your message or logo on the bottom of the back or perhaps you put it on the left or right rib cage. These are all possible solutions but will add to the value of your brand ten-fold.
4. Tone-on-tone: a Do or a Don’t? Absolutely! Think about a golf shirt. Tone-on-tone gives it a much more sophisticated feel, the owner is likely to wear it more frequently than if it has a huge logo stamped on it somewhere, but you can still rest assured that you ARE branding yourself!
These tips and tricks can be applied to almost anything you choose to put your logo on. The point is to make sure you still stand out and grab your audience’s attention. Be original with your promotions to ensure you have a lasting impact. If you insist on sticking with the norm, that’s okay, but do something different. Stick that t-shirt into a drawstring bag or wrap it up with a sweatband. Creating a stir about your brand is all about being UNIQUE.
