Local business directories: Is your company submitted to them? At first glance you may not think there’s much value in them, or think that they cost too much to utilize. However, local business directories, in my opinion, are great online tools for marketing.

Sites like Yahoo! Local, Google Places or even YellowPages.com have options for free listings that let you list your business name, address and a few other details, including your web address. This is huge. Every time you submit to a local business directory, you’re creating another opportunity to be found on the Internet, another chance someone will stumble upon your company site and another chance she or he will be calling you, emailing you or walking in your front doors. Everyone’s searching for businesses online nowadays, and the more chances you have of getting found, the better chance you have to get some extra clicks for your business.

So are you in local business directories? It may be a tedious task to submit to many of them, but just 30 minutes of your time could create many more opportunities for you to be found online. Tweet at me @TheRealTomZobel and let me know what you think.
