You Can’t Lose Something…

Do you sometimes hesitate to ask for what you want?

The truth is we all do.

We hesitate to ask for the appointment. We hesitate to ask for the order. We hesitate to ask for referrals. We hesitate out of a fear of “loss.” A fear of hearing “no.”

Here’s a bit of wisdom a good friend shared with me many years ago that has stuck with me to this day.

“You can’t lose something you never had.”

Think about it. Why hesitate to ask for the appointment? Since you didn’t have an appointment to begin with, the worst thing that can happen is you end up right where you are. No appointment.

Same thing with asking for the order. Asking for referrals. And asking for anything else we want.

Next time you sense that you are hesitating to ask for something just remember that you can’t lose something you never had.
